Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 October 2026

We take care of your information the way we'd like ours looked after. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how you can see or correct it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

1. Who we are

TAMAKI TRAVEL LIMITED is a New Zealand company offering private tours from Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Our privacy officer is one of our directors (Javier Thomson or Manuel Romero), and you can reach them using the details in section 11.

2. What we collect

When you ask for a quote or book with us, by our contact form, email, WhatsApp, phone or Instagram, we may collect:

  • your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number and country of residence;
  • your trip details: dates, number of guests, children's ages, where you're staying, and your cruise ship and port times;
  • your preferences and needs: preferred language, special occasions, dietary requirements, allergies, and mobility or accessibility needs (this can include health-related information, so we handle it with extra care);
  • your messages and conversations with us, and how you heard about us;
  • booking and payment records, such as invoices and confirmation of payments received. We don't store your card details. Card payments are made through a secure third-party payment provider, and bank transfers go through your bank.

Some information may reach us from someone else, for example when you book through Viator or another platform, or a travel agent, a cruise line or a friend books for your group. In that case we use it only to arrange your tour, and this policy tells you how we handle it.

3. Why we use it

  • to reply to your enquiry, prepare your quote and plan your tour;
  • to take bookings and payments, and keep proper financial records;
  • to arrange your day with venues, restaurants, ferries and other suppliers;
  • to contact you about your tour, including changes caused by weather, safety or closures;
  • to look after your safety and needs on the day;
  • to handle feedback, questions and complaints;
  • to meet our legal obligations.

We don't sell your information. We'll only send you marketing if you've asked us to, and you can opt out at any time.

4. Who we share it with

  • Suppliers we book for you, such as vineyards, restaurants, ferry and boat operators, attractions, and any other guide or driver working with us. We share only what they need, for example your name, group size and dietary needs.
  • Payment providers and our bank, to take payments and refunds.
  • Booking platforms such as Viator, where you booked through them.
  • Professional advisers, such as our accountant, lawyer or insurer, when needed.
  • Authorities, if the law requires or allows it, or to prevent a serious threat to someone's safety.

5. Storing information and sending it overseas

We use everyday online services such as Gmail (Google) and WhatsApp (Meta), and our website hosting. These may store information on servers outside New Zealand. We use services that we believe protect personal information to a standard comparable to New Zealand's, and we ask suppliers who receive your information to look after it too.

6. Keeping it safe

We keep your information in password-protected accounts and devices, limit access to the directors and the people who need it to deliver your tour, and don't ask for card details by email or WhatsApp. If a privacy breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we'll tell you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as soon as we can.

7. How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that don't become bookings for up to 12 months, then delete them. We keep booking and payment records for 7 years, because New Zealand tax law requires it. Dietary, health and accessibility details are used for your tour and deleted when we no longer need them, except where they form part of a booking record.

8. Your rights: access and correction

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's wrong. Email us at tamaki.travel.ltd@gmail.com. We'll respond within 20 working days, usually much sooner. You can also ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.

9. Our website

Our website doesn't use advertising or analytics cookies. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google, and our web host may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address. If you contact us through our contact page, your message is sent to us by email. If you follow links to WhatsApp or Instagram, those services' own privacy policies apply.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first and we'll do our best to fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.
