One unhurried day in the heart of geothermal Aotearoa, with steaming valleys, living Māori culture and a forest of giants.
Rotorua is a place you sense before you see it: a drift of steam above the rooftops and the faint mineral scent of a landscape still at work. This private day takes you there at an easy pace, with your own guide-host and a comfortable vehicle all to yourselves. In the Whakarewarewa valley you'll walk among bubbling mud pools and pale silica terraces, and with a little luck you'll see Pōhutu geyser send its plume into the sky. The valley is also home to living Māori tradition. You may see carvers and weavers at work and hear stories that belong to this land and its people. After a relaxed lakeside lunch, stroll beneath the soaring redwoods of Whakarewarewa Forest, or ease into warm mineral pools beside the lake. Then settle back as the green Waikato countryside rolls past on the way home. Every booking, ticket and table is arranged before you arrive, so you can simply enjoy the day.
